Fire Safety Tips for the Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us, and while we celebrate, it's crucial to keep safety in mind. Here at SERVPRO of Fayette, Haywood, Hardeman & Lauderdale Counties, we want to ensure your holidays are safe and joyful.Decorate Safely:
- Use flame-resistant or retardant decorations.
- Keep live Christmas trees hydrated to prevent them from becoming fire hazards.
- Ensure lights are in good condition and UL approved.
- Never leave cooking food unattended.
- Keep flammable items like kitchen towels and curtains away from heat sources.
- Have a fire extinguisher accessible in the kitchen.
- Opt for battery-operated candles where possible.
- If you use real candles, never leave them burning when you leave the room or go to sleep.
- Keep candles at least 12 inches from anything that can burn.
- Test your smoke alarms monthly; replace batteries if needed.
- Plan an escape route and practice it with your family.
- Keep emergency numbers, including SERVPRO's, handy for immediate response if needed.
